A preview of JASPA 2000 --
March 17th-18th, 2000
2000 JASPA Annual
Conference Schedule
The JASPA program will be on Saturday, March 18th. It will feature Larry Roper, V. P. for Student Development at Oregon State University speaking on Creating Conversations for Meaningful Change. This session will focus on ways we can bring together people who care, talking about ideas that matter into meaningful relationships that can make a difference in our organizations. Larry led this past summer's Stevens Institute (a week long retreat for Student Affairs leadership). This session was a highlight of the institute and many have commented upon how they have used this approach to create positive change on their campus.
In the afternoon, following a presentation about JASPA 2000 at Santa Clara, I thought we would talk about a topic more specifically relevant to student affairs in Catholic institutions. I have not finalized the topic nor presenter, but am leaning towards focusing upon incorporating faith, justice, and values into our actions and efforts with students.
There will also be a short business meeting.
The program itself will be one day long and will end with a reception. We will not do a banquet and will hold the awards until this summer in Santa Clara.
