The Programs Coordinator is responsible for the development, coordination, implementation and/or supervision of more than 100 activities and events sponsored by student run organizations and the Student Activities Office.  Advises student clubs and groups on program planning, development, implementation and evaluation.  Serves as a programming resource for residence halls, undergraduate and graduate clubs, media groups and campus organizations.  Assists with office programming and event supervision.  The Programs Coordinator is a 12 month position with late night and weekend programming responsibilities year round.

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:

 

- Develops and manages campus and/or late night programming events which consist of movies, concerts, novelty acts, live musical productions and athletic events.  Plans programs for summer sessions students.

 

- Advises programming groups including a class council, Senior Week, Executive Programming Board, Flipside and helps support Senior Week in administering their budgets, fund-raising activities, planning for special programs and in ensuring continuity from year-to-year.

 

- Assists student clubs with the development and facilitation of their events including concerts and special events.    Serves as a resource on contract matters, liability/ risk avoidance and ensuring compliance with University policy.

 

- Provides on-site supervision of designated events as Event Manager to oversee use, admission receipts, compliance with policies, and to assist in problem resolution and the hospitality of performer(s).

 

- Handles administrative responsibilities for the Student Activities Office including administering the Dollars for Innovative and Creative Entertainment funding programs and planning all-University programs such as DomerFest.

 

- Helps with student employee training, leadership programs and workshops. Develops training activities for programming groups as needed.

 

- Participates as an integral member of a large, multifaceted activities office interacting daily with colleagues working with facilities operations and the student media groups.

 

 

Master's degree in college student personnel, counseling, higher education or a related area is required. A minimum of one year experience in group advising, event planning and coordination is also expected. Qualifications include possessing a general familiarity with personal computers (including desktop publishing), strong organizational skills and knowledge of and desire to develop cutting edge programs. Additional qualifications include exceptional communication skills necessary to deal effectively with a diverse group that includes students, staff, faculty and the public. The successful candidate will also possess a commitment to fostering Judeo-Christian values, consistent with the mission of a Catholic university.

 

Advanced knowledge of sound and light systems are a plus.
