Director of the Cortina Living-Learning Community

& Resident Director of McGloin Hall . 

 

Creighton University is looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic student affairs professional to be a Resident Director of McGloin hall.  The person who fills this position also serves as the Director of The Cortina Living-Learning Community.  The Cortina Community is a communal, co-ed, service oriented program for selected sophomore students based on four distinct pillars: Community, Service, Faith and Justice. The 28 women & 26 men living on 5th floor McGloin Hall- the newest undergraduate hall on Creighton’s Campus.

The Cortina Community is named after the Rev. Jon Cortina, S.J.  His love of God and people encouraged students to integrate service, faith, justice, simplicity and community into life choices and commitments.  His example calls all of us to live authentic lives of faith, and be women and men for  and with others. 

We seek candidates who are:
-open to working collaboratively with other offices on campus with regards to projects involving service, faith, & justice.
-skilled at facilitating discussion on social justice, diversity and inter-group differences and building community.
-bright, talented, creative, and caring looking to learn with and from our talented students.

We are specifically looking for candidates who have a passion for and a demonstrated ability to:

·  Supervise, Advise and Mentor 280 students during their sophomore year.

·  Supervise twelve upper class staff members in their Junior or Senior year.

·  Commit to directing the a Living-Learning Community dedicated to

o        Fostering a community ethos of Community, Service, Faith and Justice.

o        Preside as a coordinating chair of an advisory board of Jesuits, Faculty, Students and Staff for the community.

o        Training and empowering four Resident Advisors dedicated to the Cortina pillars.

o        Serve as a liaison between the community organizations for the Cortina Community.

o        Manage a budget of over $14,000.

 

Qualifications:

A Master’s Degree in College Student Development, Counseling, Business, or related field and experience as a post graduate volunteer strongly preferred, Masters Degree preferred.    

Remuneration:

Benefits include meal plan, tuition remission for undergraduate & graduate programs, fully-furnished modern apartment, professional development funds, and comprehensive benefits package. Salary: starting at $30,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications.
