Vice President for Student Life
Saint Joseph's University, a private Catholic, Jesuit institution located in Philadelphia is accepting applications for the position of Vice President for Student Life. The Vice President for Student Life leads the Student Life Division and oversees and coordinates the areas of Athletics and Recreation, Career Development, Community Standards, Counseling Center, Multicultural Life, Residence Life, Student Educational Support Services, Student Health Center and Student Leadership and Activities.
The Vice President for Student Life reports to the Provost and is a member of the President's Cabinet and Vice Presidential Team. The Vice President provides leadership of the Student Life Division to create an environment that enhances student growth and development and the overall student experience in light of the University's Mission to instill in each member of its academic community: a love of learning and the highest intellectual and professional achievement; moral discernment reflecting Christian values; and a transforming commitment to social justice. The Vice President is responsible for the budgeting, policy development, staffing and planning for the overall Division consisting of over 150 administrative,
professional and staff members.
Qualified candidates should possess an earned doctorate in higher education or a related field and significant (minimum of five (5) years) experience in senior higher education administration. Other important attributes include: exceptional leadership, interpersonal and listening skills; an understanding of and
commitment to Catholic, Jesuit education and the University's Mission; a commitment to inclusiveness and diversity in student life and programs; superior written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of constituencies both within and external to the university community; and an ability to think creatively and strategically.
